Your data, your choice
Privacy Policy
WingMate is a personalized AI dating assistant that uses information you choose to provide or connect to tailor profiles, compatibility guidance, communication support, date preparation, and relationship insights. This policy explains what WingMate accesses, collects, stores, and uses; why we use it; and the controls available to you. It also contains disclosures specific to YouTube API Services.
WingMate is operated by WingMates Inc. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean WingMates Inc.
Connecting a social account is optional. AI analysis of imported information requires a separate, explicit choice in WingMate.
1. Information you provide
Depending on the features you choose, WingMate may collect:
- account information such as your name, email address, and authentication provider;
- dating-profile information such as age, photos, bio, interests, preferences, and location;
- for the face scan every member completes, facial geometry and liveness signals from a live front-camera head scan, comparison scores, and one selected scan image;
- if you start Photo Advisor, the photos it matches in the library you allow, reduced copies used for checks, check results, and your selections;
- messages, reflections, date feedback, and other content you submit in the app;
- optional private matching-questionnaire answers, including your own selections, acceptable partner selections, importance, flexibility, relationship context, and whether an item is a requirement, preference, or discussion topic;
- if you take a personality portrait (a psychological assessment), your 1–5 responses to the public-domain IPIP-NEO-120, the 50-item IPIP Big-Five measure, the 30-statement Quick Personality Snapshot (drawn from the 100-item IPIP Big-Five markers, together with which statements you were shown so a retake can show new ones), the 20-statement status and modesty test (the IPIP Greed Avoidance and Modesty scales), the 32-statement interpersonal style test (the IPIP Interpersonal Circumplex), or the 36-statement character strengths test (IPIP kindness, humor, gratitude and forgiveness scales), which of the IPIP-NEO-120's 16 optional statements about politics, mood and self-worth, overindulgence, and honesty you chose not to answer, which answers a new test started with from another of your tests, the resulting domain or facet scores, the instrument and consent version, completion time, and a basic response-quality status; when you retake a test, the scores, completion time and quality status of each earlier attempt are kept with it;
- private connection check-ins about continued interest, satisfaction, respect, reliability, and aligned expectations; and
- consent choices, connected-account status, and actions you take in WingMate; and
- information you authorize a supported third-party service to share with WingMate.
Optional private Voices
You can explore recorded voices without recording yourself. Choosing Record my voice after the purpose notice starts a short recording and agrees to its automatic private saving for playback and basic sound notes. Microphone permission is also required. Opening Voices or accepting general terms does not start a recording. You can stop, play back, try again, or delete a take. A replacement saves successfully before the previous take is removed. If offline, a protected copy on your phone waits to sync. Older unsaved drafts still need your explicit save.
Recording level, clipping, low-level intervals and provisional pitch describe a recording with uncertainty. Low-level intervals do not establish speech pauses. Optional on-device sound hints can suggest speech, music, or microphone wind without proving your environment. Optional read-along guidance uses Apple speech recognition only when on-device recognition is available; it does not send your audio to a speech recognition server. Sound notes do not establish your usual voice, health, personality, emotion, age, accent, identity, microphone distance, or compatibility.
Audio, task and language, capture/device details, the recording-notice version, optional context and sound notes are stored privately in Google Firebase. Guided Record my voice captures are not sent to third-party AI services, except a short excerpt used as a reference for a conversation upload you separately choose, described below. Access is limited to your account and authorized backend services. Recordings are not used for public playback, voice cloning, advertising, model training, or compatibility ranking. Older recordings keep their original scope; a new optional use requires a separate notice and choice.
Optional conversation uploads: after a separate notice, you may agree to send selected portions of an audio file to OpenAI for transcription and speaker separation in one of three ways. With a clear in-app spoken recording, a short excerpt of it is also sent so the service can suggest which passages may be yours. Without one, you can upload a recording that contains only your voice after confirming that only you are speaking; if more than one voice is detected, you are asked to choose yours. Or you can upload a conversation, listen on your phone to a short moment of each detected voice and choose your own. Detected voices are temporary labels inside that one recording. This temporarily analyzes voices in the selected audio, including other speakers. It is not identity verification and can be wrong. WingMate does not create a reusable voiceprint. You must have permission to share the recording. Long quiet gaps and excess audio are reduced locally; the original file stays unchanged. Review the suggested passages and confirm they are your words before they contribute to private communication notes. While you choose a voice, candidate passages are held only on your phone and WingMate keeps a checksum of each to verify your choice; the others' checksums are deleted when you choose. Other speakers' transcripts and uploaded audio are not saved in WingMate storage; only passages of the voice you choose awaiting review, approved text and derived notes are kept. OpenAI's API data controls and limited abuse-monitoring retention may apply; API inputs are not used for model training by default. For each upload whose audio is sent to OpenAI, WingMate also keeps a short record of your agreement: the notice version, the upload option, whether you confirmed permission to share the recording and, for a recording of only you, that only your voice is present, whether a reference excerpt was used, when you agreed, when the audio was sent, and the provider and model. It contains no audio, words or passages and does not identify the reference recording. Its retention is described below.
Chat with Wingmate: after its notice, your own messages add to private communication notes. Messages used for the conversation also go to WingMate's OpenAI-powered assistant to produce replies, under an instruction limited to everyday conversation that does not receive the rest of your profile. AI replies are not treated as examples of your communication. WhatsApp and iMessage imports remain separately selected and managed under their own notices.
Voice messages in Chat with Wingmate: after a separate notice, holding the microphone button records a message of up to 20 seconds; text chat works without it. The audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription. The transcript becomes your message: it adds to private communication notes and goes to the assistant for a reply. WingMate stores the audio privately in Google Firebase with its transcript and basic sound notes (recording level and a provisional pitch estimate). Those notes form a separate conversational part of your private Your voice portrait, because conversation can sound different from reading. At most 60 voice messages are kept, and up to 40 can be sent a day. Voice messages are not used for voice cloning or synthesis, model training, advertising, public playback, matching, ranking or compatibility, and sound notes do not establish identity, health, personality or emotion. Only you should be speaking. For each voice message sent to OpenAI from October 12, 2026, WingMate also keeps a short record of your agreement: the notice version your app showed, when the message was sent to OpenAI, and the provider and model. This includes messages sent from earlier app versions, whose notice did not mention this record. It does not record when you agreed, and contains no audio, words or sound notes. Its retention is described below.
Listening choices record the sample, your explicit response and limited playback evidence, including whether it played to the end and how many seconds you heard. The recorded voices offered follow your choice of who you want to meet in Discovery preferences: if you choose only men or only women, you hear the voices that the public speech libraries label male or female; with any other choice, or none, you hear the whole library, as you also do when too few voices match. These labels come from the libraries, describe their recorded volunteers only, are never inferred from audio and are never shown. You can answer once about three seconds of a voice have played at an audible volume on the same audio connection; answering stops it. You can edit or remove a choice. Skipping, silence, interrupted playback and uncertainty are not dislike. These are tentative preferences about particular samples, not a certain prediction of whom you will like. They do not affect compatibility ranking or scheduling.
Optional Best Photo First
When you turn on Best Photo First in Manage Photos, WingMate tests your approved solo portraits as the first photo in Discovery and may automatically choose a first photo based on aggregated profile-like outcomes. Your saved photo order is retained, and your full-body photo stays second. The feature is off by default.
Measurements are collected only when both you and the person whose profile you view have enabled this feature. They include which loaded photos are visible on the active Discovery card, bounded foreground viewing time, photo navigation, sustained returns to a photo, quick skips, the tested first photo, and accepted profile likes or passes. Screen exposure is not eye tracking and does not prove that a photo is liked. We do not use these measurements for facial identification or advertising tracking, or publish individual viewing activity to members.
Measurement records use account and image-version identifiers and are stored in backend-only Firestore collections. They expire after at most 30 days; unsubmitted measurements and encrypted on-device delivery summaries expire after one hour. Private aggregate statistics expire within 30 days of their last update. Turning the feature off immediately stops new measurements, restores your saved photo order, and starts deletion of records involving your account and affected aggregates. Large deletions continue in scheduled batches; re-enabling waits for cleanup to finish. Delete Account also removes these records.
The wingmate.tech waitlist
If you join the waitlist at wingmate.tech, you give us your full name, your email address, and the gender you select. The form runs on WordPress.com, which stores the submission. We copy your name and email address to WingMate’s own systems to send email; your gender stays with the form submission and is not used to send email.

Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask to be removed by emailing support@wingmate.tech.
2. YouTube API Services
WingMate uses YouTube API Services when you choose to connect your YouTube account. Use of this feature is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
YouTube information accessed
With your authorization, WingMate requests read-only access to:
- your Google OpenID profile information, such as name and profile image;
- your YouTube channel ID, title, description, custom URL, thumbnails, channel statistics, and uploads-playlist identifier; and
- up to 50 recent items from your uploads playlist, including video IDs, titles, descriptions, and publication times.
WingMate does not use the YouTube connection to create, edit, upload, like, comment on, or delete YouTube content, and it does not request your viewing or search history.
How YouTube information is used
WingMate normalizes the information into private “cards” describing the content and timing of activity you authored. When the connection screen discloses AI analysis as a use, importing accepts that use. WingMate may use those cards to identify non-sensitive patterns, suggest profile information for your review, and generate private personality insights intended to improve your WingMate experience. WingMate does not add these suggestions to your public dating profile automatically.
WingMate is designed not to infer highly sensitive attributes such as race, religion, health conditions, sexual orientation, or political beliefs from connected-account content.
3. Steam connection
If you choose to connect Steam, Steam verifies your account through its own sign-in page. WingMate receives a verified SteamID and may retrieve your public Steam display name, avatar, profile link, owned-game names, recently played game names, and associated playtime totals. Availability depends on your Steam privacy settings. WingMate never receives your Steam password, payment details, messages, or purchase transactions.
Selecting “Verify & Accept with Steam” or refreshing the snapshot accepts one disclosed set of uses: WingMate may derive broad gaming-style labels such as casual, regular, focused, or variety gamer for low-weight matching context, and shared game titles may be used for a private date icebreaker when both people connect Steam. These uses are not separate settings. Specific game titles and raw playtime do not affect compatibility ranking and are not published on your dating profile. Disconnecting Steam deletes the imported snapshot and stops both uses.
3A. Spotify connection
If you choose to connect Spotify, WingMate requests read-only
user-read-private and user-top-read access. WingMate
keeps only your Spotify account ID, display name, profile image and link, up to
20 top artists and 20 top tracks calculated over roughly six months, and up to
12 genres provided with those artists. WingMate does not request your email,
playlists, saved library, playback control, complete listening history, payment
information, password, or private messages.
Selecting “Accept & Import from Spotify” accepts the use described here. There are no separate per-purpose controls for the imported snapshot. Spotify information is never sent to an AI model, used to infer personality or profile interests, or used in compatibility ranking. If both people have active Spotify connections, a deterministic comparison may use a shared artist, track, or genre for one private date icebreaker. Deleting the Spotify connection stops access and immediately deletes WingMate's token and imported Spotify snapshot; Spotify data is never placed in the seven-day social-import buffer.
3B. Apple connections
Apple Health and Apple Music are separate, optional connections. Before saving, WingMate shows the bounded summary it will retain. Saving that summary accepts the uses disclosed on the connection screen without separate purpose switches. Approved broad fitness activities may provide low-weight compatibility context, and mutual fitness or music overlap may provide private date icebreakers. Apple Music never changes compatibility ranking or personality analysis. Disconnecting an Apple service deletes its saved WingMate summary.
4. How information is processed and shared
Personality portraits (psychological assessments) are optional self-report tools, not diagnoses. WingMate calculates their scores with fixed positive and reverse scoring. The displayed 0–100 values show position within the possible response range; they are not population percentiles, comparisons with other members, or predictions of relationship success. The one exception is the interpersonal style test: its two positions compare your answers with a published group of adults (not WingMate members), and its eight detailed sub-scores are kept only in your private result and never used for personalization. Exact item responses are kept in a backend-only record and are not sent to an AI model. When a completed result passes a basic response-quality check, its aggregate domain and non-sensitive facet scores may support your private WingMate personalization. WingMate combines the scores of every such test and retake you have taken for the same trait, giving more weight to more reliable measurements, so a retake adds to earlier results instead of replacing them. A retake is suggested 8 weeks after a test, because answers given sooner are largely remembered. If you choose “Prefer not to answer” for any IPIP-NEO-120 statement, the broad trait it belongs to and that trait's facets are shown only to you and do not support that personalization. Several statements appear word for word in more than one test; when you start a test within 8 weeks of answering the same statement in another test, WingMate fills in your earlier answer so you are not asked twice, and you can review or change it. The Quick Personality Snapshot likewise favors statements you have not answered before. Assessment responses and results are not placed on your dating profile, shared with another member, or used for eligibility or compatibility rank.
The required Face Scan creates a private reference from live scan frames to recognize you in photos you choose or grant access to, including Photo Advisor and your profile photos. Facial embeddings, camera video, and unused scan frames are processed on your iPhone and are not uploaded. WingMate stores one selected scan image privately in Firebase, together with restricted capture, quality and liveness records, for photo matching and fraud prevention. An accepted capture is not proof of identity. It is not shown on your dating profile or shared with other members.
Optional Photo Advisor
Photo Advisor is optional. With your Photos permission, it scans the photos you make available and matches your face on your iPhone. Photos that match are sent to WingMate's servers, and reduced copies go to OpenAI for safety and photo-composition checks. Nothing is added to your profile until you review and approve it. Check results and a private fingerprint of each checked image expire on WingMate's servers after seven days, so unchanged photos are not checked twice; the image itself is not kept in that record. Temporary previews stay in protected storage on your iPhone for up to seven days and are excluded from backups.
Sharing to improve recommendations is a separate choice. When you turn it on, WingMate uses minimized photo-quality categories, suggested positions, and your selections, swaps and reorders to evaluate and improve Photo Advisor; these records do not include your photos, library identifiers, locations or face measurements, and they expire after 180 days. You can withdraw that sharing or delete its records in Settings → Privacy → Photo Advisor Data, and you can cancel a scan or choose photos yourself at any time.
WingMate keeps interests separate from personality traits. Interests you add are treated as confirmed profile information. A connected account may produce non-sensitive interest suggestions, but those suggestions remain private and are not used for matching or dates unless you choose to add them. WingMate does not infer political, religious, sexual, health, disability, diagnosis, addiction, or recovery interests from connected-account activity.
Ideal-date ideas and weekly availability are optional when planning a date. If you provide them, WingMate may use them alongside bounded profile signals, date preferences, and an available partner-place catalog to propose an activity, time, and place. You may also save private requirements for a firm per-person venue budget, accessibility accommodations, strict dietary needs, and food allergies. WingMate checks applicable requirements against current supported venue evidence; missing or conflicting required evidence may prevent a proposal or require a different plan. These requirements are not shown to the other participant; proposals show only overall suitability or recovery status. Venue hours, an observed offer, and a reservation are different: this feature does not make a reservation or guarantee seating. The AI system can select only candidates created and validated by WingMate. Both people must approve the same proposal, and either person may request a different plan. When both people have confirmed the same interest or related non-sensitive interests, the date may also show up to three optional conversation starters. Those prompts do not change the compatibility letter. WingMate records approvals and change requests in a restricted feedback collection to evaluate and improve this task-specific planner. Ideal-date ideas you save may also appear, without your name, among the community suggestions other members see when choosing theirs, but only once at least three members have saved the same idea.
When you enable private matching use, WingMate may compare your structured answers with another eligible member's structured answers in both directions. The answers themselves are not shown to that member. Only after both people independently match, non-sensitive questionnaire answers may contribute to a coarse compatibility letter and general, non-revealing discussion guidance. That letter is a snapshot based on eligible answers when the new mutual match is created; later questionnaire edits apply to future new matches. The letter is not a probability, guarantee, diagnosis, or measure of either person's value. Intimate-topic answers do not affect the visible letter. Before WingMate uses a learned ranking model, it may also record backend-only candidate-set, position, exposure, policy-version, and score-band information so unseen profiles are not treated as rejections and ranking quality can be evaluated. Questionnaire answers and compatibility letters do not change which profiles you are shown, their discovery order, or whether two adults may match. Optional boundary-concern feedback is separated from ordinary compatibility outcomes, censors the related ordinary training label, and is not used as a compensating or negative compatibility score. This version does not provide automated enforcement or emergency response.
WingMate uses service providers to operate the app, including:
- Google Firebase for authentication, encrypted transport, cloud functions, and database storage;
- Google and YouTube to authenticate and retrieve information you authorize; and
- OpenAI as an AI-processing provider for connected services whose import disclosure includes social analysis, when you allow eligible aggregate psychological-assessment results to support your private personality guidance, when Photo Advisor checks reduced copies of matched photos for safety and photo composition, or when you ask WingMate to generate an automatic date proposal. Eligible AI requests disable application-state storage and use a privacy-preserving identifier rather than your WingMate user ID. Unless WingMate's provider account has separately approved retention controls, the provider may retain prompts and responses in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, subject to its policies and legal requirements.
WingMate does not sell YouTube API Data or connected-account data. We do not use it for advertising or to train a general-purpose AI model.
Age eligibility and safety review
WingMate uses declared birthdates, birthdate information an authorized connected service provides, and automated review of submitted profile photos to check adult eligibility and identify possible safety concerns. Photos may be processed by our existing AI review provider for this purpose. Visual age signals are uncertain and request staff review; they do not establish a person's age or criminal conduct. A declared or verified under-18 result can restrict account access pending review. Age alone is not treated as a child-exploitation incident.
Suspected exploitation photos are removed from profile access and held privately for approved safety staff. Access is restricted and audited. Ordinary photos of children in nonsexual family settings are not treated as exploitation. You can contact us to ask for review of a restriction. Evidence tied to a safety incident may be preserved separately from an account deletion when necessary for review, lawful reporting or a legal hold; reported material follows applicable retention requirements.
Face Scan currently serves photo identity matching. It is not an age verification service. Any future external age-verification or optional identity-screening service will require its own purpose-specific notice and consent. WingMate does not search criminal or offender registries using your face or photos.
5. Storage and security
Provider access and refresh tokens are stored separately from user-visible imported data and are not exposed to other WingMate users. WingMate uses access controls and encrypted transport designed to protect stored and transmitted information. No security measure can eliminate every risk.
Unfinished psychological-assessment answers are saved as you go, encrypted on your device and in a backend-only session so you can continue on another phone. That session is deleted when you finish or delete the attempt, and an unfinished session expires after 30 days. Submitted exact responses are separated into backend-only storage, and only those of your latest attempt at each test are kept; earlier attempts keep their scores only. Scored results are readable only by you and restricted backend services.
6. Retention, revocation, and deletion
Private Voices recordings and preferences
Protected on-device copies preserve unsynced takes and listening choices. WingMate keeps at most six saved private recordings, with their related sound notes and context, until you remove them, clear your Voices data, or delete your account, or until they are deleted after three years without Voices use (below). Removing a recording removes its saved audio and related sound notes together. Removing or replacing a reference also removes imports and communication notes derived from it. Imports made without a reference do not depend on a recording; delete them individually, or they are removed when you delete your voice recordings or clear Voices. Pending imports expire after 24 hours; approved imported text and Wingmate conversation notes expire after one year, or you can delete them earlier. Chat voice messages keep their audio, transcript and sound notes for up to one year. Deleting a voice message removes its audio, sound notes and its words in that conversation together; deleting a conversation removes its voice messages. Deleting your voice recordings also removes voice-message audio and sound notes but keeps what you said in your conversations, which clearing Voices removes. Expired records stop contributing immediately and are queued for backend TTL deletion. Listening history keeps the latest 256 individual responses and cumulative counts for each library sample; older individual responses roll off while those counts remain. Remove an individual retained response or clear Voices to remove the listening history and its counts. Clearing Voices also removes its saved recordings, written preferences, voice imports, Wingmate conversations and voice messages. Upload agreement records are kept for one year after the upload's audio was last sent to OpenAI. Deleting or cancelling the upload, deleting your recordings, retaking a reference or clearing Voices does not remove them; deleting your account does. Voice-message agreement records are kept for one year after the message was last sent to OpenAI. Deleting the message or its conversation, deleting your recordings or clearing Voices does not remove them; deleting your account does. Connected chat imports are managed separately. Account deletion removes user-scoped Voices data. Limited backup or legally required retention may apply as described below; retained copies are not used to continue the feature.
Three years without Voices use: if you have saved guided recordings (made with Record my voice) and do not use Voices for three years, those recordings are deleted automatically with their audio and sound notes, together with any uploads that used one of them as their reference. Using any Voices feature while your account is active counts as use; WingMate notes it at most once a day, and the three years run from the end of the day (UTC) of your last use. While you have guided recordings, WingMate keeps a small private record of when you last used Voices and the resulting deletion date. It is removed when you delete all your recordings or your account, and is kept for 90 days after an automatic deletion. A daily process carries out the deletion. Before deleting, it checks your saved Voices data for more recent use, such as a recording or listening answer saved after that date; if it finds any, the three years restart from it. If the deletion date arrives while a safety review hold applies to your account, the deletion waits and is checked again each week; once the hold has ended, at least 30 more days pass before it. For recordings saved before this rule took effect, the deadline is three years after your last known Voices use, and never sooner than 30 days after the rule took effect. A removal marker stops an older device from restoring a deleted recording. Listening choices, written preferences, uploads made without a reference, Wingmate conversations, voice messages and the agreement records for uploads and voice messages are not affected by this rule and keep the retention described above.
If your account is not active: when your account exists but is not active, for example while it awaits approval or is suspended, you can still sign in to review and delete your Voices data under Privacy & data › Voices data. You cannot add Voices data or play recordings back. While a safety review hold applies to your account, Voices data cannot be viewed or changed in the app; contact support. During a hold, account deletion still removes Voices data, and the expiry periods of uploads, conversations, voice messages and agreement records still apply.
Safety review holds: a safety review hold means a protective hold on your account during a safety review, or a legal hold on a report about you. While one applies, Voices data cannot be deleted or overwritten in the app, even if your account is active: removing or retaking a recording; removing or changing a listening answer; removing or changing a quality you described or replacing or clearing your note; clearing all or part of your Voices data; deleting an upload, a conversation or a voice message; a new listening answer that would push the oldest out of your kept history; and a new upload that would replace an unfinished voice choice are refused with a message asking you to contact support. If your account is active, you can still view, play back and add Voices data, such as new qualities, a first note or new answers while fewer than 256 are kept, and cancel an upload before WingMate starts processing it. Choosing your voice in an upload still discards the passages you did not choose. The expiry periods described above still apply, the three-year deletion waits as described above, and deleting your account still removes your Voices data, including agreement records. Deletion in the app is available again once the hold ends.
Profile-photo identity review and unused uploads
For profile photos you upload, your iPhone may report the result of comparing a face with your current Face Scan reference. WingMate records the reference used and that comparison result with the upload. This is client-reported evidence, not independent server verification of your identity. Photos held for identity review are withheld from profile access until review is resolved.
Daily cleanup may delete unused profile-photo uploads once they are more than 14 days old. Published photos, originals needed for their crops, active upload or crop work, quarantined evidence, and photos protected for safety review are preserved. Accounts that are not active are excluded from this unused-upload cleanup. Profile-photo links are rotated when a block or an ended match requires revocation, and removed gallery-photo links are revoked. Links and copies already obtained cannot be remotely erased; these links are not yet short-lived, per-viewer access grants.
Application and account restrictions
To prevent a declined application or a safety-restricted account from being recreated to evade review, WingMate may retain a restriction record keyed by a hash of the email address. The hash is pseudonymous personal data, not anonymous data. The record contains the restriction reason and review timing, rather than the email itself. It can remain after account deletion; there is no automatic expiry in the current system. An authorized review can reverse the restriction. Contact support to request review. An application submitted by an unverified person must not restrict the address’s verified owner.
Face scans and related biometric data
Every member completes a Face Scan before using WingMate. When you accept the Terms of Service, you agree to processing facial geometry on your iPhone for photo matching and to private storage of one selected reference image, capture and liveness records, comparison information, and related diagnostics. A scan begins only when you start it, and we record the Terms version you agreed to with each scan. Video, unused frames and facial embeddings are not uploaded. Separately chosen private 3D face material includes its mesh and texture. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising or compatibility ranking, or show it to other members.
With your explicit agreement, an accepted scan and its related records are kept for up to five years from the scan's original capture date. Retakes do not restart an older scan's five-year period. Private 3D face material expires with its reference. A monthly rescan is not required. Earlier scans remain subject to their original 30-day period unless you choose to extend an existing, unexpired scan under this notice; accepting general terms alone does not extend an earlier scan. An expired scan must be renewed to keep using WingMate.
We permanently delete this data earlier when you request deletion, delete your account, or its collection purpose ends, and no later than three years after your last interaction with WingMate. The earliest applicable deadline controls, including any shorter legal requirement. Unfinished or unsuccessful scans expire within 30 days. Automated cleanup runs daily; expired references cannot be used while cleanup completes.
Choose Connections → Identity and safety → Face Scan → Delete face scan and related data to withdraw consent and remove all saved face references, attempt records and diagnostics, photo-matching scan sessions, and private 3D face material. You can also request deletion at the contact below. Photo matching then stops. Because a current face scan is required, WingMate asks you for a new scan before you continue using the app; deleting it does not delete your account or profile photos. Your profile photos are separate and can be deleted through the photo controls. Your data is processed by WingMate and Google Firebase under restricted access.
Connected-account tokens are retained while the connection is active. Disconnecting a provider revokes its active connection and removes WingMate's stored authorization token, but does not delete information already imported.
Except for Spotify's immediate-deletion lifecycle described above, when you choose “Delete Imported Data,” WingMate immediately revokes access, stops refresh and analysis, removes provider-derived insights from use, and blocks all client access to the imported copy. The normalized source copy is then held in an inaccessible seven-day buffer to discourage repeated import-and-delete activity and the unnecessary provider/API processing it can cause. If you choose Import for that provider before the original deadline, WingMate cancels the scheduled deletion and restores that exact buffered source without calling the provider API or requiring the same file again. This does not restore revoked provider authorization, deleted AI-derived information, or prior analysis consent; reconnecting and re-enabling analysis remain separate choices. Repeating the deletion request does not extend the original deadline. The source copy is scheduled for permanent deletion from WingMate's active systems seven days after the request, normally during the first automated cleanup sweep after that deadline, which runs every 15 minutes.
Deleting an import does not delete the original information from the connected provider, WhatsApp, or a file saved on your device. Deleting your WingMate account follows the separate account-deletion process and includes user-scoped imported information. Limited backup, security, fraud-prevention, and legal retention requirements may apply where permitted by law.
Steam uses a separate minimized connection lifecycle. Choosing “Disconnect and delete imported data” immediately deletes WingMate’s stored SteamID, public game snapshot, playtime summary, and derived gaming-style signals. It does not delete information from Steam itself.
You may delete your private matching questionnaire from You → Your relationship priorities. This removes the answers and revokes their matching-research use immediately. A private revocation cutoff prevents earlier feature snapshots from becoming eligible again if you later answer the questionnaire again. Previously derived matching feature records are then deleted, stripped from outcome records, or marked ineligible for training by a resumable backend cleanup. A visible post-match letter that used the questionnaire is restored to its non-questionnaire fallback and its questionnaire provenance is removed. Withdrawal is not treated as a rejection or negative match outcome. Safety records are kept separate and may require a different retention period where needed to protect members or meet legal obligations.
You may use “Delete portrait & answers” in Personality portraits at any time. This immediately deletes both the owner-readable scored result, including the scores of every earlier attempt, and the backend-only exact responses for that instrument, and triggers a rebuild so the deleted assessment no longer supports current personality guidance. Answers that another of your tests started with are part of that other test's record; deleting one test does not delete them from the other, and you can delete each test separately. Deleting your WingMate account also recursively deletes both records.
If you keep private matching enabled but turn off permission for intimate-topic answers, WingMate removes those answers and applies the same conservative research cutoff and derived-record cleanup. New matching-research use waits for that cleanup to finish.
You can control YouTube data in several ways:
- disconnect YouTube from WingMate to revoke the active WingMate connection;
- use “Delete Imported Data” in WingMate to stop use immediately and schedule the imported source copy for deletion seven days later;
- revoke Google access directly at Google Account connections; and
- follow our data-deletion instructions or contact us for help.
7. Your choices and rights
You may review and correct profile suggestions before applying them, disable AI analysis, disconnect a provider, delete an import, or request deletion of your WingMate account.
