The rules of the relationship
Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of WingMate, including optional connections to third-party services such as YouTube, Steam, and Spotify.
WingMate is operated by WingMates Inc. In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean WingMates Inc.
1. Eligibility and acceptance
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract to use WingMate. By accessing WingMate, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. WingMate’s role
WingMate provides AI-assisted dating guidance, profile tools, compatibility recommendations, message drafting, date preparation, reflection features, and personalized relationship insights. Some features may suggest communications or actions for your review. WingMate does not guarantee matches, compatibility, relationship outcomes, or the accuracy of an inference or suggestion. You remain responsible for approving your communications and actions, making your decisions, arranging meetings, and protecting your safety.
3. Your account and content
You are responsible for your account, the accuracy of information you provide, and activity under your credentials. You retain ownership of your content. You give WingMate a limited permission to host, process, and display it only as needed to operate and improve the features you choose.
Optional private Voices
Choosing Record my voice after the purpose notice agrees to capture and automatically save that take privately for playback and basic sound notes. Your device also requires microphone permission. Opening Voices or accepting these terms does not begin recording. You can stop, replay, retake or delete recordings. Protected unsynced takes wait on your phone; older unsaved drafts still require explicit saving. Guided recordings go to restricted Google Firebase storage and are not sent to third-party AI services, except a short reference excerpt for an upload you separately choose. Record only your own voice in these tests. You can also listen to recorded library voices without recording. Which ones you hear follows your choice of who you want to meet, using the libraries' own speaker labels, which are never shown, and you can answer after about three seconds of listening.
Sound notes are uncertain descriptions of the recording. They do not establish identity, your usual voice, personality, health, emotion, actual microphone distance or romantic compatibility. Low-level intervals do not prove speech pauses, and sound hints do not establish your location. Voices recordings are not used for cloning, advertising, model training, public playback or compatibility ranking.
Conversation uploads require a separate notice and affirmative choice. Selected audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription and speaker separation, with a short saved voice reference when you have one. Without a reference you may upload a recording of only your voice, which you must confirm, or choose your own voice among those detected. Upload only audio you have permission to share. Automated speaker suggestions are not identity verification; confirm your own passages before their text contributes to communication notes. Your original file is unchanged. Other speakers' transcripts and uploaded audio are not retained in WingMate storage. Optional chats with Wingmate save your own messages as private communication examples and send conversation messages to the OpenAI-powered assistant for replies. Optional voice messages in that chat require their own notice: hold to record up to 20 seconds of your own voice, which OpenAI transcribes and WingMate keeps privately with basic sound notes for your Voices portrait. Only you should be speaking. OpenAI API data controls and limited abuse-monitoring retention apply.
We keep the notice version and action for each use. Earlier recordings retain their accepted scope unless you explicitly choose a newly disclosed use. You can remove recordings, listening choices, voice imports, voice messages and Wingmate conversations; removing a voice reference also removes its derived imports. Pending imports expire after 24 hours, and approved imports, voice messages and conversation notes after one year. For each upload whose audio is sent to OpenAI, and each voice message sent to OpenAI from October 12, 2026, we keep a record of your agreement, without audio or words, for one year after the audio was last sent, even if you delete the upload or message or clear Voices. If you do not use Voices for three years, your guided recordings and the uploads that use them as a reference are deleted automatically. If your account is awaiting approval or suspended, you can still review and delete your Voices data, unless a safety review hold applies. While such a hold applies, Voices data cannot be deleted or overwritten in the app even from an active account; deleting your account still removes it. See the Voices privacy and deletion details.
Required face scan
Every member completes a face scan before using WingMate. It lets WingMate check that the photos you add, or that Photo Advisor suggests, show you, which helps reduce impersonation. By agreeing to these terms in the app, you agree to private facial processing for photo matching and to storage of the saved reference and related face data for up to five years from capture. A scan begins only when you choose to start it, and your device asks for camera permission. We record the version of these terms you agreed to with each scan.
No monthly rescan is required. You can withdraw and delete the scan and related data at any time from Face Scan in Connections. Because a current scan is required, WingMate then asks for a new scan before you continue using the app; deleting it does not delete your account or profile photos. We delete it earlier when its purpose ends, when you delete your account, or after three years of inactivity, and follow any shorter legal deadline. Older scans retain their original deadline until you separately agree to extend them, and an expired scan must be renewed to keep using WingMate. See the biometric retention and deletion schedule for the data, purpose, storage and deletion details. This is a photo reference, not a guarantee of anyone's identity, age or safety.
Optional Photo Advisor
Photo Advisor is optional. When you start it and allow photo access, it scans the photos you make available and matches your face on your device. Photos that match are sent to WingMate, and reduced copies are sent to OpenAI for safety and photo-composition checks. Nothing is added to your profile until you review and approve it. You can pause or cancel a scan, or choose photos yourself instead. Sharing your selections to improve recommendations is a separate choice you can turn on or off in Photo Advisor. 4. Connected services, YouTube, Steam, and Spotify
Connecting a third-party account is optional. Third-party services have their own terms and policies, and availability may change. If you connect YouTube, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of information is described in the Google Privacy Policy. If you connect Steam, your use of Steam remains subject to the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Valve’s Privacy Policy. If you connect Spotify, your use remains subject to Spotify's Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy.
You authorize WingMate to access only the information and permissions shown during the provider’s authorization process. You may revoke access at any time.
For social imports, disconnecting a provider and deleting an import are separate actions. A social-import deletion request stops WingMate's access and use immediately and places the imported source copy in an inaccessible seven-day buffer. Choosing Import before the original deadline cancels the scheduled deletion and restores that source without restoring provider authorization, deleted AI-derived information, or prior analysis consent. Repeating the request does not extend the original deadline. See the Data Deletion page for details.
Steam has no retained WingMate authorization token. Disconnecting Steam also immediately deletes the linked SteamID, imported game snapshot, playtime summary, and derived gaming-style signals rather than placing them in the social-import buffer.
Spotify uses a separate immediate-deletion lifecycle. Deleting the Spotify connection removes WingMate's authorization token, profile snapshot, top artists, tracks, genres, and related icebreaker context immediately rather than placing them in the social-import buffer. Spotify information is not used for AI analysis, personality inference, interest inference, or compatibility ranking.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use WingMate to:
- harass, threaten, deceive, impersonate, or exploit another person;
- submit content you do not have the right to use;
- scrape, reverse engineer, disrupt, or bypass WingMate’s security controls;
- access another person’s connected account or private data without permission; or
- use the service in violation of law or a connected provider’s terms.
6. AI-assisted features
AI-generated summaries and personality insights may be incomplete or mistaken. They are not medical, psychological, legal, financial, or professional advice. Review suggestions before relying on or applying them.
7. Suspension and termination
You may stop using WingMate at any time. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce these terms, comply with law, or maintain service security.
8. Service changes and disclaimers
WingMate may change, suspend, or discontinue features. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that it will always be uninterrupted, accurate, secure, or error-free.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as WingMate evolves. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
